Be a part of New Zealand's Castle
Larnach Castle holds a special place in the hearts of those that have visited and worked here over the years. Our team is dedicated to creating unique and memorable experiences for our visitors every day and have fun along the way!
The Castle is a historical monument in the heart of the Otago Peninsula. Built in 1871 by William Larnach, the Castle holds fascinating stories of the past and offers a glimpse of the Victorian lifestyle.
The story of Larnach Castle is beautiful, scandalous, tragic and more recently one of sheer determination. Equally compelling is the recent history of the Barker Family purchasing the property and taking it from essentially ruins to now being one of Dunedin’s and indeed New Zealand’s most well recognised tourism attractions.
This is a multi-faceted tourism business, known not only for being New Zealand’s Castle, but also its spectacular gardens of international significance, boutique accommodation offerings and as one of Dunedin’s premier function and event venues.
