(Lodge Room 28) The Victorian Room

Features a king-size rimu four-poster bed especially made for the Lodge. Decorated in Victorian colours and touches. The bathroom here features Victorian style tiles like those found in the Castle.

(Lodge Room 27) The Goldrush Room

There is a king size cart bed made out of an old cart found on the Castle property, it is complete with the driver’s seats and brakes! A mural on the walls features clouds and native trees by a local artist.

(Lodge Room 26) The Pink Room

Always a honeymoon favourite. Brass bed and chaise longue. Great views, including from bathroom – the loo with the view – a million dollar view of the Pacific Ocean.

(Lodge Room 25) The Kauri Room

A beautiful antique kauri canopy bed dominates the room, as does a gorgeous kauri wardrobe. Warm colours complementing the kauri furniture contribute to the ambience of this room.

(Lodge Room 24) The White Room

Very romantic with carved wooden four-poster bed, enveloped in lace and with broderie anglaise bedcovers. Decorated in white, an upstairs room with old wedding pictures featuring on the walls.

(Lodge Room 23) The Enchanted Forest

Sublime William Morris “Willow Bough” wallpaper designed in 1889 covers the walls and ceiling of this room, as well as the blinds. Views of the South Seas garden and Peninsula. Upstairs room.

(Lodge Room 22) The Rose Room

The rose theme comes from Larnach’s English ancestry that is commemorated in a rose panel of priceless Venetian glass inside the Castle. Beautiful rose wallpaper and a large ‘romantic rose’ picture are on the walls.

(Lodge Room 21) The Scottish Room

Is a brave red with tartan bedcovers and curtains. Scottish pictures and a trophy thar head furnish the walls. Larnach was of Scottish descent as are many Dunedin residents.

(Lodge Room 20) The Sea Room

Panoramic views of the Otago Peninsula and Pacific Ocean is the attention feature of this room. The sea room has flooring to give a sandy look. A shell mirror and a buoy from Monarch Otago Harbour Cruises stand out on the navy blue walls.

(Lodge Room 19) The New Zealand Room

The Koru is featured on the bedspread, a design from Imagica. A specially made brown sheep also features in the room. A mural of a native Cabbage tree is in the bathroom and a flax bush is cleverly painted in the corner of the bedroom.

(Lodge Room 18) Kate's Room

Kate was Larnach’s favourite daughter for whom he built the ballroom as a gift for her 21st birthday. Her room is decorated as a young ladies room, with fabrics and touches that were felt would be suitable for this special girl.

(Lodge Room 17) The Rhododendron Room

Features beautiful Rhododendron print bedspreads, views on to the South Seas garden and thrilling photographs of Rhododendrons in their native habitat taken by Margaret Barker when she visited China.
