 Weddings

Larnach Castle has long been a favourite venue for the most discerning brides.  We have everything all in the perfect setting.  There is a great choice of garden settings for the ceremony with an indoor venue available if the weather is inclement.  Popular settings include the Reflecting Pool, the restored Cupola, the Rock Garden, or in the event of poor weather, the Victorian staircase in the lower verandah of the Castle.

Of course, being a Garden of Internation Significance, there are plenty of amazing areas to take your wedding photographs.  A favourite is a photograph of all the guests on the front steps of the Castle with the bridal party in the forefront, a great memento of the day.  The lookout and belvedere in the South Seas Garden, with the Otago Harbour and Peninsula in the backgound is truly stunning.  Other popular areas include the Wishing Well, the Methane Plant, the Stables, the Dungeon, the Serpentine Walk, and the vibrant green Rainforest.

Meanwhile your guests enjoy canapes and bubbly in the Ballroom outdoor courtyard or the Castle's lower verandah conservatory, followed by dinner in the historic Ballroom.

Conference Dinners

Our specialty is the final night of your conference, the night that will leave everyone talking - the highlight of the conference in Dunedin - held at our wonderful fairytale Castle.

Welcomed through the main doors of the Castle, pre-dinner drinks in the verandah conservatory, moving through to the grand Ballroom for the meal.  With a wide range of menu choices, we offer a buffet style service through to a much more formal three or four course set menu served to the table.

We can accommodate audio and visual equipment so that speeches, presentations, or awards can be made throughout the meal.

Our menus start from $55 per person with a minimum of 80 people.  The ballroom can accommodate a maximum of 200 seated dinner guests.

Balls & Dances

The Dinner can be accompanied with a Dance, or a grand Ball can be organised from the outset with a continuous supper.

We can advise of the most appropriate local live or DJ music options available.

Our continuous supper menus start from $45 per person and the Ballroom can accommodate up to a maximum of 260 standing (and dancing) ball guests.

Themes

As Wiiliam Larnach, the original owner and builder of Larnach Castle, was of Scottish descent, we specialise in Scottish evenings.  A Haggis Ceremony can be arranged and guests are encouraged to dress up in tartan regalia.

Of course we are not limited in themes for your event.  Larnach Castle is a Victorian dream home, so what better way to evoke the era than to array yourself in Victorian splendour.  Equally, the grandeur of the surroundings can evoke the perfect formality required for a Black Tie event.

Masked masquerade or fancy dress options also work very well in this fairytale Castle setting.

Day Conferences

Being a popular visitor attraction, our Ballroom is used as a Visitor Cafe during the day, and is not suitable as a large conference venue as privacy and exclusivity cannot be guaranteed.

However, it is the perfect place for a catered lunch for large groups that may be taking a break from their Dunedin Conference in touring the Otago Peninsula attractions.

During the day, we have a couple of alternative room options available for the smaller conference - ideal for breakaway sessions from larger conferences in Dunedin, or smaller meetings or training sessions, in a unique environment.
