The Larnach Castle snowglobes were created in Vienna, Austria by craftsman Erwin Perzy III, whose grandfather Erwin Perzy I, created the world's first snowglobe more than 100 years ago. Erwin has made snowglobes for many distinguished customers, including former US president Bill Clinton for the presidential inauguration parade. Also included in his customer list are Ronald Reagan and the Dubai Education Ministry. There have been many special requests for custom-made snowglobes and Larnach Castle's is one of those requests. Every snowglobe is handmade at the Perzy factory.
It is still a family secret today the way the snow in the globes is made. Over the years, the Perzy snowglobes have become collectables and are highly sought after by collectors. For the collector of snowglobes, the value is their simplicity of design, the detailing and painting by hand, the clarity of the liquid and glass globe and the ample amount of white snow which when tipped, floats aount the globe and remains suspended for a very long time.
